Hi,
What could be more important to a child who wants to become an entrepreneur? Is the business skill that is of immense importance to your child? Although, business skills are mandatory for entrepreneurial success, goals and objectives are the two most critical areas of life. Without them children cannot expect to achieve anything tangible in life.

Children are like uncut diamonds. There is a Steve Jobs in every child in the world. A budding entrepreneur in Steve made him what he is today - a giant in the corporate world who departed this world with great entrepreneurial deeds and achievements. Napoleon Hill believed that “goal is a dream with a deadline”. That is what Steve Job did throughout his lifetime.

Obviously, many of us want our children to be entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs. However, it is our duty to nurture and groom our children in the art of entrepreneurship before they can hope to become a successful entrepreneur. Have a great day.

Thought for today:

Q1: I have a son who will be turning 5 years old in 3 months. He is our first child and when he was a baby, people used to comment on how alert he was. Even as a newborn he had this piercing look. He seemed to do everything early in the first year...but he can be forgetful in his everyday life - misplacing things, forgetting things at school like his mitts, hat, lunch sack (he's in junior kindergarten). He sometimes gets frustrated easily when things don't go as expected, he also has a hard time when he is unable to do something or figure something out...

A: Asynchronous or uneven development refers to uneven intellectual, physical, and emotional development where intellectual development is always more advanced. The average development for children is when the intellectual, physical, and emotional development progresses at about the same rate (or “in sync”). More likely than not, gifted children tend to develop unevenly with their cognitive development way ahead of their physical and emotional development (“out of sync”)... Q2: MMy 6 year old daughter was recently given the WISC-IV test - her scores were as follows:

VCI 91
PRI 96
WMI 86
PSI 94
FSIQ 89

similarities 10
vocab 6
comprehension 9
digit span 8
letter number sequencing 7
block design 8
picture concepts 11
matrix reasoning 9
coding 9
symbol search 9

We were suspecting add/dyslexia. Her father and brother both have it and she is struggling in school. Can you tell me if these scores show any possible concerns for either of those LD's. She is also in speech for some slight speech problems but has shown improved. Thank you.

A: Her scores do show some signs of a learning disorder. You did mention that her father and brother both have learning disorders; hence it is not surprising that she could have it as well. Based on the scores alone, there is lesser possibility of ADHD as children with ADHD generally have a much higher full score IQ (around 97-98 points). They also tend to have a higher working memory index (around 96 points). I would suspect a dyslexic condition as her scores are close to that of an average score for children with dyslexia. Specifically, it appears that she may have a reading LD based on her scores. .... Continue to read Dr. Sandhu's answer on WISC IV Scores for ADHD/Dyslexia here.

Q3: I live in Ascot, I have noticed that may baby son in his early week was very advanced he can follow my finger with his eyes from the day one, he started to smile from his first week he started to understand when i ask him if you are hungry and he replies to me with a big smile in his first month, he want to stand on his feet very early and start to grab things in his two months, start to make sound and gurgle and one day he said mama I could not believe it in his three months.....

A: The description you gave is not very detailed to suggest if your child is normal or bright. These days, due to excessive exposure, most children are able to do things much earlier than say, 30 years ago. Children are naturally curious, so they would always prefer change of environment. Most babies are quite happy to be outdoors and see different things around them. Bright colours and music grab their attention and they enjoy that.... Prenatal fish consumption leads to smarter and more social children
The Examiner Jan 31, 2012

Many Utah moms-to-be go to great lengths to produce smarter children. They play music to their unborn child, read to them and eat a proscribed diet, all in support of superior cognitive development. Recent research from the University of Granada supports the latter as effective in producing smarter, more social offspring.

Infant brains are primed with 'intuitive physics'
HT Times Jan 25, 2012

The brains of infants come primed with “intuitive physics,” in spite of their seeming helplessness and rounds of eating, crying and sleeping. “We believe that infants are born with expectations about the objects around them, even though that knowledge is a skill that's never been taught," said Kristy vanMarle, assistant professor of psychological sciences at the Missouri University's College of Arts and Science
