Score of Reading Comprehension on WIAT III
By Inderbir Kaur Sandhu, Ph.D
Q: My child scored a 160 on WIAT-III reading comprehension test she is autistic and I know that she scored in the very superior range. Actually how rare is that score of 160?
A: As far as I know, this is indeed the highest score and any score in the superior range would be rare (around 0.1 percent based on a normal curve). However, as you mentioned that she is autistic, a high functioning one I believe, this may be quite possible. There is no indication of the other scores, so it is hard to further elaborate, just to simply answer your question on the rarity of the score. I think you may need to see the tester to help understand the scores better and how to further help her use this strength to the maximum. An autism specialist would be able to help or refer you to someone who can guide you further. Best wishes to you.
