Duke TIP Admission Criteria
By Inderbir Kaur Sandhu, Ph.D
Q: My son, a fifth-grader (10), scored 99 percent composite. No other scores were listed on the Duke TiP form that came home. What to interpret from that score? Thanks!
A: From your description, it is not clear which test he may have sat for. However, 99th percentile score in any test is in the highest range. There are a few criteria for admission, however the main criteria for acceptance into the TIP programme are:
-
Scoring at or above the 95th percentile on an accepted grade-level standardized test, aptitude test, mental-ability test, or state criterion-referenced test.
-
Scoring 125 or above (full scale or composite) on a standard IQ test that is no more than two years old.
Do call them up asking for the next step in the application. Good luck!
